Fixing Your Concrete

Concrete is one of the most durable materials that is used for construction. However, there are times when you need to actually repair the concrete that you have around the home. There are a few different things that you will be able to do with your concrete. This article is going to outline a few different things that you can do with the concrete.

If your concrete is not in really bad shape what you may want to do is seal your concrete. There are a few different products that you can use. If you notice that the cracks are very small, then a concrete sealant should do the trick. However, if the cracks are much larger than you are going to want to use a more powerful sealant. There are some sealants that can span across a fairly good sized crack.

Grout And Cement

If the cement is in really bad shape you may find that you need to actually go in and put some concrete in the cracks. This takes some time and some skill in order to do, but it is going to give your concrete a lot longer life. You will first want to make sure that the concrete that you bought consists of only small gravel or sand sized aggregate. If the cobbles are to big then they will not fit down inside the cracks. So, mix the cement and then pour it on the cracks. Once it is poured make sure that you smooth it out as best as you can.

Slab Jack

Often the reason that the concrete is breaking in the first place is that the foundation that the concrete was laid on is not solid anymore. You can fix the concrete with cement, but it will just break again because it is not on a solid foundation. A slab jack is a machine that is able to pump sand and cement down under the cement slab. This is so effective because it will effectively fix the foundation, but it will also lift up the concrete slab an you will be able to fix the cracks. This is one of the most effective ways to fix concrete. If you suspect that there has been any settling of the foundation whatsoever, then it is time to rent a slab jack. You will be surprised at how effective a slab jack can be in fixing your concrete slabs.
